In this episode of Trackletics Live, our host Samar had the incredible opportunity to sit down with Jolie Robinson, a rising star in the track and field world. Jolie’s journey is not just about athletic excellence; it’s a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of family and faith. From Volleyball to Track: Jolie’s Athletic Beginnings
Jolie Robinson’s path to becoming a standout track and field athlete started in an unconventional way. Initially, track was just a means to stay in shape for volleyball. However, inspired by her track coach grandfather and her brother, Jolie discovered a passion and talent for track that eventually eclipsed her interest in volleyball. “I kind of always looked up to my brother and my grandpa,” Jolie shared, reflecting on her early inspirations.
 
Overcoming Life’s Hurdles: A Story of Resilience
Jolie’s journey hasn’t been without significant challenges. During her senior year of high school, she became pregnant, which led her to put her athletic dreams on hold. Watching the Olympics rekindled her passion for track, and with the unwavering support of her parents, she decided to give her dream another shot. “If I gave birth, I can do any of this,” Jolie asserted, underscoring her newfound strength and determination.
 
Finding a New Home at UCI
After a successful stint at Saddleback Community College, Jolie transferred to the University of California, Irvine (UCI). Her decision was driven by the close-knit, supportive environment at UCI, which allowed her to balance her athletic commitments with her responsibilities as a mother. “My coaches have kids around the age of my son, and they understand my life,” Jolie explained, highlighting the importance of the family-like support she receives at UCI.
 
Training and Goals: Pushing Boundaries
Jolie’s training regime at UCI is intense and multifaceted, focusing on both her strengths and areas that need improvement. Despite the rigorous training, Jolie approaches each session with gratitude and joy, appreciating her second chance at pursuing her passion. Her goals for the season are ambitious: breaking the school record and making it to Nationals.
 
Balancing Nutrition and Recovery
Maintaining peak performance requires careful attention to nutrition and recovery. Jolie emphasizes the importance of hydration and proper nutrition, including protein intake, to fuel her demanding training sessions. She also incorporates extensive stretching, normatech therapy, and ice baths into her recovery routine to stay in top form.
 
Looking Beyond the Track: Future Aspirations
While Jolie is dedicated to her athletic career, she also has clear plans for her future beyond track and field. She is studying education and aspires to become a high school teacher and coach, hoping to inspire the next generation of athletes.

Jolie’s journey is a powerful reminder that obstacles can be overcome with resilience and faith. Her advice to those facing difficult situations is poignant: “Don’t let people tell you what you can and can’t do. Trust that there is a plan for your life.”
